Advice for Patients on Biologic Treatments

The advice

  1. Store the injections in the fridge (2–8°C) and never freeze; in Kuwait's heat never leave them in the car — transport in a cool bag, and ask us for a medication travel letter when flying.
  2. Take the injection out 15–30 minutes before use to reach room temperature (less injection pain), rotate injection sites, and never inject into inflamed skin.
  3. Keeping your dose schedule is the secret of a lasting result — and do not stop when the skin clears without consulting us.
  4. Delay the dose and tell us if you have an active infection with fever or are on antibiotics — then resume as directed.
  5. Tell any doctor before surgery or a new vaccine that you are on a biologic; live vaccines are not allowed, while the yearly (inactivated) flu vaccine is recommended.
  6. TB and viral hepatitis screening is done before starting, with simple periodic blood tests on schedule.
  7. Contact us for: persistent cough, night sweats, unexplained weight loss, or recurrent infections.
  8. Modern biologics are safe and effective long-term with regular follow-up — do not stop them because of social-media posts; ask us about any concern.
