Dermal Fillers in Kuwait
Fillers replace lost volume and support structure — unlike Botox, which relaxes muscle. The result is immediate, but the most important thing about filler is not the result: it is who injects it. This is a procedure whose safety depends entirely on knowledge of vascular anatomy.
What you should know
- Hyaluronic acid fillers are gels of a sugar that occurs naturally in skin, and the effect is visible immediately.
- What they treat: nasolabial folds, perioral lines, cheek volume loss, lips, under-eye hollows, chin, earlobes, volume on the backs of the hands, and some facial scars.
- Duration: the AAD states immediate results lasting 4 to 12 months. The ASDS gives site-specific figures — lips around 6 months, nasolabial folds 9–12 months or longer, and some cheek products up to 24 months.
- Treatment takes 15 to 30 minutes, with immediate return to normal activity, exercise the next day, and no touching the area for three days.
- Common effects — redness, swelling, tenderness and occasional bruising — tend to clear within 7 to 14 days.
- The AAD states fillers are safe for all skin colours, as they do not carry the pigmentary risk that lasers and peels do.
Safety — the part that matters most
- Reversibility is a genuine advantage of hyaluronic acid: the gel can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, whether to correct a lump or overcorrection, or urgently for vascular occlusion. A caution: DermNet notes around 20% of people with a history of wasp-sting anaphylaxis may cross-react with hyaluronidase.
- The serious risk is vascular occlusion. The FDA warns that unintentional injection into a blood vessel can block it and impair blood supply, potentially causing tissue necrosis, visual abnormalities including blindness, and stroke. It is rare, but it is why filler should be injected only by a doctor who knows facial vascular anatomy, recognises it immediately, and has hyaluronidase available.
