Radiofrequency (RF) Microneedling – Before & After

A patient advice sheet — 9 practical points. Reviewed and updated by Dr. Abdulaziz AlRashed, July 2026.

The advice

  1. This device combines fine needles with radiofrequency heat deep in the skin: stronger tightening and collagen stimulation than regular microneedling — for scars, texture and mild laxity.
  2. Important before booking: tell us if you have a pacemaker or metal implants/plates near the treatment area (radiofrequency may be contraindicated), pregnancy, or a cold-sore history (a preventive antiviral is prescribed).
  3. Before: avoid tanning for two weeks, stop retinoids and exfoliants 3–5 days ahead, arrive with clean skin and no make-up, and metal jewellery is removed.
  4. Numbing cream is applied for 30–45 minutes; during the session expect warmth and a prickling sensation.
  5. After: redness and mild swelling for 1–3 days, with fine grid marks and small crusts for up to a week — do not scratch or peel them.
  6. First 24 hours: no make-up, only a gentle cleanser and plain moisturizer; no actives for 5–7 days; no sauna, sweaty exercise or pools for 48 hours.
  7. Strict SPF 50+ for 4 weeks — to avoid post-inflammatory pigmentation in our darker skin.
  8. Results build over 4–12 weeks as collagen forms; the usual program is 3–4 sessions at 4–6 week intervals.
  9. Contact us for: blisters or burns, pus, or increasing pain.
