The advice

  1. After cryotherapy: redness, swelling then a blister (sometimes blood-filled) within a day — this is normal and expected; do not pop it, and if it is large and painful the doctor can drain it sterilely.
  2. Wash the area gently every day with water and mild soap; do NOT use alcohol, hydrogen peroxide or iodine on it — they delay healing.
  3. Apply a layer of Vaseline and cover with a plaster until healed: a moist covered wound heals faster and scars better than one left "to dry out".
  4. Change the plaster daily and after getting wet; normal showers are fine, but no soaking in tubs or pools until healed.
  5. A crust or darkening of the treated surface is normal and falls off within 1–3 weeks (longer on the legs) — do not pick it.
  6. For biopsy stitches: keep your stitch-removal date (face about 5–7 days, body 10–14 days), and avoid stretching the area and hard exercise until removal.
  7. Mild pain needs only paracetamol; contact us for spreading redness, pus, throbbing pain, or fever.
  8. A new scar stays pink for months: apply sunscreen on it to reduce permanent darkening.
